Parmesan Roasted Potatoes
Sunday, November 23, 2008 by Pam
I wanted a simple side dish for a roasted chicken. I had some baby Dutch yellow potatoes and Parmesan cheese so I decided to roast them together. Not only was this extremely easy to make it tasted great. The Parmesan was salty and crisp and made these little potatoes taste wonderful. My kids both really liked them and my husband and I loved them. I can't believe I haven't made these before.
- 9-10 small baby Dutch yellow potatoes
- 3-4 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Garlic powder, to taste
- Sea salt and fresh cracked pepper, to taste
- Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Boil a large pot of water and boil the potatoes for 4-5 minutes. Remove from water and let cool. Once cooled, slice into quarters and combine with olive oil, garlic powder, sea salt and black pepper as well as the Parmesan. Mix thoroughly and place in a baking dish that has been sprayed with olive oil cooking spray.
Place into the oven and roast for 20-25 minutes. Remove from the oven and taste, re season with sea salt, cracked pepper, or garlic powder if needed. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley. Enjoy.

I received a couple of awards and tags...
Thank you to Jennifer from Jennifer's Cooking and to Emily from The Open Pantry for tagging me to to say 6 random things about myself. Here goes.
- I could eat potatoes every day of my life.
- I am originally from Idaho (probably why I love potatoes so much).
- I would pick a cinnamon, coconut or lemon dessert over chocolate.
- Cat Stevens is my all time favorite singer.
- I want to backpack through Europe with my husband and children.
- I love tent camping - can't get enough of it.
I also received the Superior Scribbler Award from Shelby at The Life and Loves of Grumpy's Honeybunch. Thank you so much Shelby - you know how much I love your blog. I really appreciate you passing this on to me.
And the Uber Amazing Blog Award from The Blonde Duck at A Duck in Her Pond. Thank you Duckie - you always put a smile on my face with your writing. I really appreciate this award.
I will pass these awards on soon, but I must head to bed. My terrible cold returned this weekend and I am exhausted.

This is an excellent photo for perfect roast potatoes! I am motivated now to start using them up; I bought a 2 kg sack of these about 2 weeks ago but they have been sitting around untouched since I got distracted preparing other dishes. I definitely have to make this soon.
I make roasted potatoes with rosemary all the time, but it never occurred to me to add parmesan. What an awesome idea!
Parm & potatoes are so classic together...it's not just for pasta! Beuatiful color too!
Looks good as always!
Great combination. I had a similar dish, but featuring dijon mustard, tonight. I'll have to add this to my list to try.
This is wonderful! Something with less than 2 main ingredients? That is MY kind of recipe. I would have never thought to combine those two and it looks so delicious! Another recipe I can't wait to try!!!!
Congrats on your awards! Hope you feel better soon, too. Your potatoes look great, especially with the garlic powder tossed in there, too. Good stuff! YUM!
that looks wonderful! i first found your blog from your soysauce roasted potatoes, and now you have parmesan! my brother loves both :)
thanks for sharing - hope to keep in touch with you :)
Yum! I have a bag of taters to use up, you may have just told me how!
I tried to reach into the screen to pull the potatoes out but it didn't work. Whaaaaa!! You must know my favorite food is a potato no matter how they are cooked. these look fabulously delicious!!
I make often roastpotatoes, butnever added paremesan cheese to it.Will do it next time.

They wonderful, I'll be trying this for sure!
This is how I make them, but I add a touch of balsamic vinegar or Worcheshire sauce (however you spell that word).
Looks good though, even more so on cold days like this one.
Excellent Potato recipe. and great picture!
zesty
Potatoes with cheese, the best!!
This looks delicious. It's a great idea that makes an otherwise standard side dish into something special. I hope you're feeling better soon.
Yowza! That's like, five of my favorite savory things put together. Though I've never roasted potatoes with cheese (a tad expensive here at times), it would sure be a special treat! :)
I'm so glad you tried the Parmesan cheese! It makes potatoes so much more tastier! Once you start using parmesan cheese with potatoes, there's no going back :)
I hope you feel better! Have some more of these potatoes, for me! I can only drool from a distance.
I roast potatoes all the time, but I don't think I've ever tried them with parmesan!
These are very good, I've made them a few times and they are always a hit.
I just got a 5 pound container of parmesan, and it's calling my name. How do you think these will go with Beef in burgundy sauce? Hmmm. Maybe I'd better wait until chicken parmesan night.
oh my gosh! those sound delicious! i love parmesan. they browned so beautifully!
So sorry about your cold, Pam! And just as the holiday season is beginning and you need your energy. Take care and make yourself a big pot of any kind of soup...
The potatoes look mouthwatering! Craving some now.
my dear grandma makes something like this, except she uses butter and about 10 times more of it. :)
Wow, what a simple, but amazing idea! I can't wait to try these!
These looks so good, I'm going to make them tonight!
Like you, I could eat potatoes every day, and roasties are my favorite. I have never tried parmesan with them, but I have a feeling this situation will soon be remedied. They look great, Pam.
Congrats on your awards. But I am sorry to read that you are still suffering with your cold. Get well soon.
brilliant idea! loving the parmesan touch!
These look so delicious...I think next week (after the mandatory Thanksgiving mashed potatoes), I'll have to try these! :)
Those look wonderful: a perfect meal for a cold winter night!
I made these potatoes for my wife tonight and we both loved them! What's really funny is that I told her I was making roasted parmesan potatoes for dinner and she gave me this face she makes when she thinks she won't like something. Being from Puerto Rico she makes this face pretty ofen. :-)
I paired them with your Maple Black Pepper pork chop recipe and I must admit, it was a perfect match. I followed your pan searing and oven/thermometer method and WOW! Incredible pork chops supreme! This recipe has trumpt my previous favorite Mojo pork chops (Guy Fieri's recipe) by a long shot. Mucho Gracias!
I've totally enjoyed reading your Blog. Keep up the good work!
Ahhhh I gave you ideas!:) I simply have to add lawry's when I make my parmesan cottage potatoes, but parmesan potatoes are so good :)
Hey! Did you use fresh or canned parmesan cheese? I'm gonna make these for Christmas day and CAN'T WAIT!
Jamy,
I used freshly grated parmesan...it's just so much better than the stuff from the green can.
I hope you love the potatoes as much as I do. Happy holidays!
I made this last week for Christmas Eve dinner and they were a big hit! I added a little bit of dried basil to your recipe, and they were fabulous. Thanks for the recipe!
Hi,
This recipe looks great! It's linked to the wrong recipe though. When I tried to print it using your "print here for a printable version" it linked to a crumb cake recipe. I tried cutting and pasting, but was unsuccessful as well. I finally printed it from the page, but it took 13 pages. Thanks for all the great recipes. I just found your blog and will be trying many of them. Your site is one of the best I've come across!
Anonymous,
I am sorry you had to copy and paste. The link is now fixed. I hope you liked the recipe - it's a big hit in our house.
Thanks for your kind words about my blog...I really appreciate it.
I tried the potatoes and they were a hit with my husband. I will be making them again for sure. I also made your Parmesan Chicken and he loved that too! Good job. I'm so happy I found your blog.
I just made the parmesan potatoes and they were a definite hit. Everyone loved them. I will definitely be making these again. Thanks for sharing your recipes.
