Brie and Apple Cranberry Chutney Crostini
Thursday, January 8, 2009 by Pam
I was inspired by Kevin at Closet Cooking's baked brie recipe. We were heading to a friends house for dinner and I decided to make an appetizer using similar flavors. I picked up a seeded baguette, double creme brie and an apple cranberry chutney from Trader Joe's and was ready to go. This was extremely easy to make and it tasted wonderful. I love the spicy cinnamon flavor with the tart cranberries and apples in the chutney, which tasted wonderful with the creamy brie and toasted baguette. We all really enjoyed the appetizer, even my 3 year old son. Thanks for the inspiration Kevin.
- 1 seeded baguette, sliced
- 1 package of double or triple cream brie
- 1 jar of apple cranberry chutney (or whatever flavor you like)
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Slice the baguette into thin slices then place on a baking sheet. Bake for 4-5 minutes or until light golden brown. Spread a bit of brie on each toast and top with a dollop of chutney. Serve immediately and enjoy.

these look just amazing!! i just love the combo of all the flavors... and your cookies look so crisp... yum...
I'm always so amazed and impressed that your kids will try such a wide variety of food!
Love your cookies. I don't know when I last had a cookie. I'm overdue! For a while, I had liked soft cookies. Now, I prefer cookies that are crisp on the outside, and soft on the inside. Yours fit the bill nicely! YUM!
I adore baked brie & it is so long since I've had it - this crostini is so quick & simple - excellent, must give it a go!
Excellent mixture of flavours.
Your appetizer is great and very easy to assemble.
A great idea to serve at parties.
Lovely finger-food.
All the best x
Brie is the perfect cheese, goes with a myriad of toppings.

Brie is a lovely cheese to go with a variety of jams and even fresh fruits, I've made similar to these but instead of cranberry chutney I used cranberry luxury sauce (you know the one you use with pork, or pork sausages)...but chutney sounds even better as chutney have like a vinegary bite into them, which cut through the richness of the Brie as at times can be overpowering on its own...just love the concept ...well done and thanks for sharing
Great idea and looks delicious.
Your crostinis look wonderful. I love chuntey and brie!
Hey lady ;) This sounds so good! I have been seeing a lot of baked brie recipes lately- I need to try one! Glad that even the three year old liked it- you know that means its good!
As for the pasta, does your husband like broccoli? Maybe you could make it with that instead?
GREAT blog btw!
Beautiful and delicious.
Love the colour of the chutney.
I didn't know you could buy the chutney. It looks delicious!
Oh my word, these look AMAZING!
Yippee, I have all three ingredients but never thought to combine them. Sounds so good I may have it for breakfast.
Pam, you have another winner here. These look incredibly good and I'm a lover of double cream brie...so I'm hooked.
Brie is one of my favorite cheeses, good thing I don't eat it very often. That would be dangerous! I love it paired with something sweet! This looks amazing!
Mmmm. I am soooo inspired to eat this! ha ha
I ate a lot of this combo this summer and I also used garlic hummus making a triple layer..it was very tasty.
This is my type of appetizer, crispy, tangy and creamy ! Looks to die for!

I've never had cranberry and brie together but now that you mention it...it sounds like a match made in heaven! I will try!
This looks fabulous, Pam! I love appetizers, and the sweet/savory combination of this one sounds like a winner. I am bookmarking it!
It took me a while after starting to read various blogs to figure out that "crostini" meant "fancy toast with excellent toppings"!
I just heard the sweet sound of angels singing.
How easy is this? I love it.....3 ingredients and you make this? Wow!
These look amazing and so simple, now I know exactly what I will do with TJ's apple cranberry chutney lying in my fridge :-)

I love baked brie but it usually isn't that healthy. This looks so good but not nearly as bad for you!
Looks SO tasty. I love toasting slices of baguettes. The crunch is just heavenly!!!!!
This looks delicious! Another good combination is the baguette, brie and fig jam. :)
This looks super-yummy! I bet it would be good with goat cheese. I work with Chavrie and I am always looking for new ways to use our goat cheese and this will be on my menu list. Thanks!
I've tried this at my friend's birthday. Delicious!
